I love Game Of Thrones. It is a fantastic show. But as much as I would love to talk about Game Of Thrones this is a music blog. So I'll talk about a famous song from Game Of Thrones. (Loophole) The world of Westeros has many songs but none as infamous or memorable as "The Rains Of Castamere." Let me explain the history of the song. In Game Of Thrones there are many families vying for control of the country of westeros. One is the Lanisters led by the powerful Tywin Lannister. Big families like the Lannisters have small families to serve them. one of them was the Reyne family from Castamere castle. The small family of Reyne attempted to rebel against there masters the Lannisters. Tywin wasn't having that so he had the entire family killed and castle Castamere burned to the ground. No survivors were left. After the destruction of house Reyne Tywin had a song made to immortalize his victory. The song was named "The Rains Of Castamere" The song lyrics are as follows
"And who are you the proud lord said that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat that's all the truth I know.
A coat of gold a coat of red the lion still has claws .
And mine our long and sharp my lord as long and sharp as yours
And so he spoke and so he spoke that lord of Castamere
But now the rains weep o'er his hall with no one there to hear.
Yes now the Rains weep o'er his hall and not a soul to hear."
This song appears all through out the show and usually means something bad is about to happen. For instance a couple of soldiers sing it before a big, bloody battle, and It is played right before a big massacre scene. It has a medieval gothic feel and fits well with the tone of the show. It will get stuck in your head and will stay there. Depending on your favorite Game Of Thrones character. My favorite character is a stark so typing this is going to leave me very depressed. Anyway thank you for reading music lovers. now if you'll excuse me I have some Game Of Thrones episodes to cry at. This is your resident handsome nerd signing off.
